SONY DSCSchool shopping fairs are usually places to buy stocking stuffers, handmade crafts, and baked goods, but Barrington’s Girl Scout Daisy Troop 1323 turned theirs into an opportunity to help less fortunate children. They created handmade loom bracelets – which they called “Looms for Love” – and sold them at the Red Brick School’s Last Chance Shopping Fair on December 20, with all proceeds benefiting Project Undercover! They wound up selling $100 worth of bracelets, which they subsequently used to purchase and donate supplies for us, a valuable influx during the post-holiday times when donations typically slow down.

“These generous and industrious young ladies used their creativity and hard work to help us provide children in need with basic necessities,” said Project Undercover board member and Barrington resident Stephanie Oster Wilmarth. “We can’t thank them enough. Children understand how important it is to stay clean, dry, and warm all winter and it’s truly moving to see them helping other kids.”

Thank you to troop leader Emily Conner and the parents, including Julie Romano, for organizing this event.
